THE MOVE STORY

A passion for creating positive impact. A deep commitment to community. A belief in the power of movement. These are the elements that form the bedrock of MOVE Wellness. They also happen to be the very things through which Robin and Elaine connected in 2012.

Originally meeting when Robin sought out Pilates training to help her prepare for a road race, Elaine and Robin discovered in one another a shared entrepreneurial spirit, a desire to build something meaningful in their Southeast Michigan community, and a remarkably complementary skillset.

Elaine’s unique vision for a place where people of all ages and types were empowered to move well by confident professional trainers they could trust blended seamlessly with Robin’s operational prowess and knack for cultivating vibrant community spaces.

Through a collaborative community-based business approach, they created long-term partnerships with Trinity Health, Probility Physical Therapy, the University of Michigan, Cancer Support Community and other mind-body professionals to extend a continuum of care to clients in search of whole-body health and well-being.

Today, MOVE is Ann Arbor’s trusted resource for Pilates, Gyrotonic® training, and other mind-body systems and classes that help people build strength, get healthy, and live long, rich lives at every age.

GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM®

MOVE also teaches the Gyrotonic Expansion System, a three-dimensional movement system based on the principles of yoga, dance, tai chi, and swimming.

We have four Gyrotonic Towers as well as an Archway, Gyrotoner, and Jumping Stretching Board. We know the equipment might look intimidating, but once you give it a try during an Introductory Private Session, you’ll become hooked! Gyrotonic is great for seasoned movers as well as those brand new to this movement system. We have private sessions as well as Gyrotonic Tower classes in the studio.

MASSAGE & PHYSICAL THERAPY

We also offer massage therapy and physical therapy in our studio. Relax and rejuvenate your body and mind in our massage room. Massage therapist Sabri Wright is available for mixed modality bodywork. We have also partnered with Melissa Trauger of Rhapsody of Motion Physical Therapy to offer on-site physical therapy sessions to complement your Pilates or Gyrotonic training.

BOUTIQUE

After class, we invite you to mingle with our trainers and members. You can also shop for skincare and beauty products free of harsh chemicals as well as workout wear and accessories in our boutique.

We currently are partnering with BYOC Ann Arbor and have many locally made products including sustainable bodycare, kitchen accessories, and candles.
