Small Group Class Descriptions
This class will build the foundation for a successful Pilates experience by working through modified beginner exercises with a focus on individual safety. Clients will practice the Pilates principles using modifications as needed at a pace appropriate for any postural and health issues. We’ll safely challenge the body in neutral alignment and imprint using all planes of motion in all relationships to gravity (i.e. flexion, extension, lateral rotation and lateral flexion). This class is suitable for those who have done some Pilates and for those with injuries or issues that need a deliberate-paced class. Please discuss any injuries or concerns with us before class.
Pilates Level 1:
Enjoy a well-rounded workout on a variety of Pilates equipment including Reformer, mat, and chair. At this level we will introduce all of the beginner level exercises. And, we’ll explore how to use the breath to stabilize and mobilize the body, gaining much greater control and power. You can expect to safely challenge your body using all planes of motion in all relationships to gravity (i.e. flexion, extension, lateral rotation and lateral flexion). Additionally, clients will be introduced to the Pilates vocabulary and the names of each exercise. It’s important to become more familiar with communicating the principles of alignment, abdominal engagement, mobilization of spine, hips and pelvis. This class is recommended for those who have some Pilates experience. As well as for those who want to continue to work at a moderate pace.
Pilates Level 2:
In level 2, clients will continue to practice the full beginner repertoire of exercises. At this level, the intermediate principles and exercises will be layered into the workout. This includes more weight bearing on arms, more complex movements, and larger ranges of motion with stability and balance challenges. This class is taught at a pace that will encourage flow and control while building endurance and strength. We’ll work on mixed equipment in this class including the Reformer, mat, and chair. This class is recommended for clients who have achieved competence with the beginner level exercises. Clients should be able to do the level 1 exercises fairly easily, with good form, and without struggle or a lot of explanation.
Pilates Open Level:
Pilates enthusiasts practicing at any level are invited to join us for this class. From beginner to advanced, this class will get you moving safely and challenge you wherever you are in your unique Pilates journey. The instructor will assess the needs of the class and keep everyone moving at an appropriate pace and level with modifications offered for a personalized group experience. We recommend that participants have some general Pilates experience for familiarity with the equipment and exercises. Our Pilates Essentials class or a private introductory session are a great place to start.
Introducing our all new Pilates Reformer class focused on improving mobility. Mobility means moving freely and easily through a full range of motion in all of your joints to optimize your entire musculoskeletal system. In this class, we will mobilize the spine in all planes of motion working to increase mobility. This class is suitable for all levels and will move at a brisk pace with modifications given as needed.
Strength, Balance and Posture:
This level 1–2 Pilates Reformer class is designed for clients looking to challenge themselves, build strength and endurance, and do so in an osteoporosis-safe way. In a level 1–2, clients will continue to practice the full beginner repertoire of exercises. Intermediate principles and exercises will start to be layered into the workout. This includes more weight bearing on arms, more complex movements, and larger ranges of motion with stability and balance challenges. This class is taught at a pace that will encourage flow and control while building endurance and strength. This class is recommended for clients who have achieved competence with the beginner level exercises and can do most of them fairly easily, with good form, and without struggle or a lot of explanation.
With four Gyrotonic Towers in the studio we are excited to offer small group classes on this very popular piece of equipment. Gyrotonic training is a three-dimensional movement system based on the principles of yoga, dance, tai chi, and swimming. Clients will focus on stretching and strengthening muscles while simultaneously stimulating and strengthening the connective tissues in and around the joints of the body. These exercises are coordinated with corresponding breathing patterns, enhancing aerobic and cardiovascular stimulation, balance, detoxification, increased oxygenation and circulation, lymphatic movement, and cranial sacral stimulation. Specific to this class, the Pulley Tower will guide the body through natural spiraling movement. Its pulley based design provides assistance in tractioning the spine and joints. Whatever your conditioning goal, Gyrotonic training is an efficient, effective, and safe way to increase your flexibility, develop your core, and release tension.

Small group training classes are limited to 4–6 participants who register to attend weekly. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate drop-ins at this time. An intro session is required for new clients to participate in class. We recommend 1–3 additional private sessions to get comfortable with the equipment before joining class.
