Designing a training plan just for you.

Adjusting Reformer Springs

Everyone at MOVE has been working hard to prepare for reopening the studio, with the hope we will be allowed to do so soon. We plan to begin our phased approach to reopening by scheduling private sessions, hopefully starting in mid-July, and will follow with a modified small-group training schedule in Phase 2. Our virtual options will remain in place so each client should feel empowered to choose their own mix of in-studio and online training. Following guidelines from the State of Michigan, here are some of the new protocols we have in place.

  • The studio layout has been redesigned to allow for physically distant private sessions, small-group training, and a streamlined flow of clients in and out of the studio.
  • The number of people allowed in-studio at any given time will be limited.
  • New windows will be installed to allow fresh airflow.
  • Cotton gloves will be made available to clients who wish to use them.
  • Bring your own mask, or we’ll provide you with a disposable for use.
  • Stringent cleaning protocols with approved cleaning solutions are in place for all equipment and touched surfaces.
  • MOVE staff will be following strict guidelines prior to arrival and while in-studio, such as temperature taking, face coverings, and hand washing.

Ready to get started with an in-studio private session? Fill out this brief form and we will get the scheduling process going for you. We look forward to designing a safe and comfortable plan for each and every member of our community. Your workout—your choice. If you are a current private session member, we will reach out to you soon to discuss your in-studio private session schedule, but feel free to fill out the form to get started.

Trainer with 2 clients on Pilates Cadillac

As we prepare for a return to in-person training (the timing is still unclear), clients and trainers alike will be empowered to make comfort-level decisions on an individual basis. When allowed, re-opening MOVE will be a thoughtful process taking each member’s preference into account: bit-by-bit, client-by-client, and relationship-by-relationship.

We know that many of you will feel most comfortable continuing with our virtual options for the time being and we remain committed to keeping those options in place. If you’re ready to join us for in-person training, we will be ready to welcome you as safely as possible. Soon we’ll be sharing a video tour of the new studio layout designed for physical distancing and also a detailed guide of our new in-studio protocols so you’ll know what to expect. We invite you to choose the mix of in-studio or at-home training that’s right for you.

As soon as we have specific information, clients can expect to hear from us by phone or email to discuss individual preferences. In the meantime, please keep moving and reach out to us with any questions or concerns.

Pilates Instructor on Mat seen on iPad screen

Dear MOVE Community,

Last week we shared our commitment to online classes for the foreseeable future. Today, we reaffirm that commitment and share our latest thinking on what comes next.

We envision a new hybrid MOVE reality, featuring a mix of in-person and virtual training. When and how we arrive there will continue to evolve as information becomes available. As our livestream schedule is in place and operating smoothly, we now turn our attention to raising the bar and improving your online experience.

Soon we will be asking for your feedback to help us chart the way forward with a focus on your needs. Watch for simple post-class surveys to start coming soon to your inbox. Please share your thoughts so we can flex our muscles and get better and stronger for all of you. Additionally, we invite you to email us with any and all feedback you may have from technical details (sound, lighting, technology) to class programming.

We are in this together as a community and grateful for our connection with you all.

Pilates Online

While our Stay Home Stay Safe order in Michigan has been extended through May 15, there continues to be a lot of buzz about how and when businesses will reopen. Rest assured we are committed to keeping our online classes in place well into the foreseeable future. With so many unknowns, even when granted permission to reopen, we will evaluate how that looks for MOVE to ensure the health of our members and staff. If you have already purchased a monthly membership, it will automatically renew to keep you moving at home.

Just over one month into our virtual studio, our livestream schedule is serving our community safely and effectively. Our latest blog post will walk you through our online fitness classes, the effectiveness of Pilates workouts at home, and how to take your daily Movement Vitamins“. For those new to Pilates, we have added free and weekly introductory classes to the schedule to get you started. If you haven’t joined us yet, we encourage you to reach out and let us help you schedule the livestream classes that are your best fit.

What Do I Need For Class?

Blue Hand Weights on a Shelf

While we do have a page of frequently asked questions on our website, the question we’ve heard most lately is, what do I need for class? The short answer is an electronic device to stream on and a Zoom link.
That said, sometimes props or music can enhance your class experience. We’ve posted a new blog page for you that will dive deeper into options for props and music in our livestream classes. Keep in mind that props are optional depending on what you have available. Instructors will always offer a modification or suggest a substitution if needed. This page will share:

  • Optional props for our various classes
  • Suggestions for household “prop swaps”
  • Recommendations for places to purchase props
  • Curated music playlists for certain classes on Spotify

Let’s MOVE Online

Monday, March 16, 2020

Dear MOVE Family,

In this unprecedented time of uncertainty, safety is our top priority.  With that in mind, we are moving to an all online format effective immediately.

We are quickly setting up online resources for you including live streaming with your trainer for classes and private sessions and free YouTube content that you can access anytime.  It is so important to keep moving and we are committed to helping you continue to move mindfully every day for your health and wellbeing.

We are emailing our MOVE members individually to help you set up your classes and sessions. We will be offering practice appointments to help you set up your technology before your scheduled session so that you can just enjoy moving when the time comes. And we are taking this opportunity to create some classes for an expanded audience so that maybe we can invite friends and family who are farther away to join us.  We will post updates to this page as well as communicate through email and social media, so check back frequently.

Who knew that shortly after our 6th Anniversary of MOVE Wellness that we would be faced with such an incredible challenge.  It is clear, however, that how we connect and support each other now, will impact our lives into the future and so far with the love and continued support we have received from our members, we are so hopeful.

Please be in touch with questions and email us anytime at office@movewellness.com.

Ways to Keep Moving

Sunday, March 15, 2020

Last week we pledged to share updates as we all put our communities first in fighting the spread of Coronavirus. The situation is evolving quickly and for now, we remain open and operating our regular schedule with all the recommended “social distancing” and increased cleaning protocols in place. We are also working on moving many of our services to an online platform in the coming days and weeks.

Starting Monday, March 16 we will have the following options in place.

Private Training Members:

  • We are here for your regularly scheduled sessions in studio with all appropriate safety protocols in place. For any members uncomfortable coming into the studio, please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate each client individually.

Small-Group Training and Fitness Class Members:

  • If you are comfortable attending classes in studio, we are here and ready to teach with all appropriate safety protocols in place. We will limit all classes to 4 clients to maintain the recommended 6 foot distance between people.
  • For those who would prefer to workout at home during this time, we will be offering a schedule of classes available by live stream including Mat Pilates, Barre, GYROKINESIS®, Facial Movement, and Yoga. Please contact us for schedule details and to register.

Coming Soon:

Thank you for your patience and continued support. Our number one priority is keeping everyone safe and healthy. Keeping your movement practice going is an important part of staying healthy and we hope that we can continue to find ways to connect and support each other during this difficult time.

Updated: Next Level Healthy Studio Hygiene

Sunday, March 15, 2020

As we shared last week, the Coronavirus situation is changing daily and we are watching it closely and continuing to adapt. Our comprehensive day to day cleaning procedures have been increased, and increased even more. We’d like to reiterate our approach and added measures so you can be assured we are staying up to date with best practices and recommendations.

  • All trainers are asked to wash their hands before and after every client session or class.
  • All clients are also encouraged to wash their hands before and after every session or class.
  • Clients should feel free to ask for a “hands free” session with verbal cueing only.
  • Clients should feel welcome to bring and use their own mat.
  • Hand sanitizer is available in both studios and at the desk.
  • Staff has increased the frequency of sanitizing frequently touched surfaces, props, and equipment to multiple times a day.
  • In addition to wiping down props after use, please feel free to also clean them before your class.
  • Fabric straps are being laundered frequently.
  • Above all, we ask that all staff and clients refrain from coming into the studio when ill.

Additionally:

  • Classes have been reduced to a maximum of 4 participants in studio to maintain 6 foot distance throughout class.
  • All clients and staff are asked to wear socks in the studio.
  • Deep cleaning with an EPA approved cleaning agent has been increased.

We welcome you to contact us with any questions and concerns. Trust that we will stay current with this evolving situation and make any and all necessary changes to our process.

Next Level Healthy Studio Hygiene

Sunday, March 8, 2020

As many of you know, the Coronavirus is making its way around the world. Though Coronavirus has not been identified in Washtenaw County, the situation is changing daily and we are watching it closely so we can be prepared. Our day to day cleaning procedures are already very comprehensive, but we have increased our existing processes to keep our clients feeling safe and our studio welcoming for all. Along those lines, we’d like to share our approach so you can be assured we are staying vigilant.

We should all trust our best judgment and common sense to work together to stay healthy. While the CDC and related government agencies have said that we can continue with our daily routines at this time, we will closely monitor any change in those recommendations. Transparency is important as this situation evolves so please trust that we will communicate updates as needed. We are deeply appreciative of your understanding and help in keeping everyone in the MOVE community safe and healthy.
