The MOVE Pilates Instructor Training Program is led by Pilates Instructor Trainer, Elaine Economou. Elaine is a seasoned Pilates instructor with a movement degree and additional training in kinesiology, anatomy and other systems of movement. The MOVE Pilates Instructor Training Program offers a modern and comprehensive perspective on the original functional fitness program that Joseph Pilates developed. Course manuals have been shaped by our expert instructors’ unparalleled teaching experience to give you current, useful, and applicable Pilates principles while still allowing you to develop your own teaching identity. MOVE trainers will be with you in all stages of your education as you refine your teaching philosophy and prepare you to stand out in the Pilates industry.
In the MOVE Instructor Training curriculum, you will develop your skills as an instructor and prepare you for your PMA certification. And your education doesn’t have to stop there. MOVE will continue to challenge you through ongoing continuing education credits and workshops to inspire and challenge you. At the end of the training, you will have the opportunity to apply to become a MOVE Apprentice and may be invited to join MOVE’s team of high caliber and passionate trainers.

The comprehensive 450 hour training program meets the requirements to sit for the Pilates Method Alliance Certification exam and includes three modules:
Comprehensive Mat Training Course - 2018: March 9-11, 16-18; April 13-15 and April 27
Mat includes an introduction to the history and principles of Pilates and the beginning, intermediate and advanced level exercises with modifications so that all original Pilates Mat repertoire movements are learned. Also incorporates the use of props for advancing clients or for providing appropriate modifications. An overview of anatomy, postural analysis and movement principles is covered with this course. COST: $1,200, plus $125 for course materials.
Reformer Training Course - 2018: May 4-6, 18-20; June 1-3 and June 20
The Reformer Course includes an introduction to the Pilates Reformer, beginning and intermediate exercises, session sequencing and teaching cues for group classes. Modifications designed for group and individual instruction are covered as well as technique for teaching clients at different levels of ability. COST: $1,800, plus $150 for course materials.
Cadillac, Chair and Barrels Course - 2018: September 14-16, 28-30; October 5-7 and November 7
Provides a thorough introduction to Cadillac, Chair and Barrel exercises. Equipment set up, safety and maintenance is covered as well as how to incorporate the exercises into a client’s session. Includes exercises and variations for both private training sessions and classes. COST: $1,800, plus $150 for course materials.
Knowledge of the fitness industry and the teachings of Joseph Pilates is highly recommended. Each student should be familiar with the practice and technique of Pilates and have experience in both Mat Pilates and Pilates on the apparatus before embarking on the 450-hr teacher training.
We are glad to help support trainees in their journey during training and towards certification. Both Comprehensive and Intensive students are eligible for discounted practice time at MOVE, during course training. Following please find our trainee rates:
- $12/ non-equipment classes, $20/ reformer classes and free community Mat classes if available.
- Trainees have access during their course time to the studio and equipment to practice and observation of other trainers. This time must be scheduled in advance. Outside of course times, students can rent equipment $20 per hour.
- Trainees have access to private training with any MOVE trainer during their course time for $60/hour.
