What are your rates?

For a full list of our rates for private lessons, duets, group classes, group classes w/equipment and small group privates, click here.

I purchased a package, do they expire?

Your personal training package expires one year from the date of purchase, and your group class package expires six months from the date of purchase, except where noted.

Small group private sessions are for consecutive classes and cannot be applied to other classes except where noted. Sessions are non-transferrable.

How do I get started?

We recommend starting with an introductory private session. Your trainer will take you through a basic workout, while assessing your needs and discussing your goals, health, and time and budget parameters.

I’m not sure if I should do GYROTONIC® exercise or Pilates. Which would be better for me?

There are all kinds of variables that can help determine which movement system would be best for you-it might even be a combination of both! A graphic the compares the two forms of exercises can be found here. We're happy to talk with you about your goals and preferences in order to help steer you down a path that works for you, so please don't hesitate to contact us with your specific questions.

How long is a session and what should I wear?

Group classes and private sessions are each 55 minutes. We do offer 85 minute private sessions on request. We recommend people wear clothing that is loose enough for you to move freely, but not so baggy that we can’t see your body position. Socks are suggested for private sessions but not required. We don’t recommend tennis shoes for any sessions other than bootcamp, Shred and HIIT.

Can I work out on the equipment by myself?

Yes. Once you’ve reached a point in your practice where you are able to use the equipment comfortably and safely without an instructor present, MOVE offers the option of doing independent workouts to supplement your GYROTONIC® or Pilates practice. Independent workouts are $25/hour. Please contact us to schedule your independent practice.

What is MOVE’s cancellation policy?

We ask that you give us at least 24 hours notice if you need to reschedule or cancel your session or class reservation. This allows us to effectively maximize our instructors’ time and keep the studios running smoothly. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice will be charged at the full cost of the session or class.

I would like to take a group class. Can I just show up, or do I need to register online?

Group classes have a capacity of 10-15 people, so space is limited. We require all participants to either register online or by phone at 734.761.2306. Drop-ins are on a space available basis only.

What is a duet?

A duet is a workout for two people. We offer Pilates and GYROTONIC® duet sessions. These can be fun and economical as well as hold you accountable to a friend (or someone new) for your workout sessions. Duets sessions can be designed using mat, equipment or both.

My budget is limited, but I am interested in private sessions. What are my options?

In addition to group classes, we offer private sessions with apprentice trainers in both Pilates and GYROTONIC®. The apprentice trainers start at $25. Please contact us for more information and apprentice trainer availability.

What is the STOTT PILATES Method?

STOTT PILATES is a contemporary approach to the original exercise method pioneered by the late Joseph Pilates. Co-founders Moira and Lindsay G. Merrithew, along with a team of physical therapists, sports medicine and fitness professionals, have spent over two decades refining the STOTT PILATES method of exercise and equipment. This resulted in the inclusion of modern principles of exercise science and spinal rehabilitation, making it one of the safest and effective methods available. This clear and detailed approach forms the basis for STOTT PILATES training and certification programs. It is used in rehab and pre-natal clients, athletes, celebrities and everyone in between.

What are the benefits of STOTT PILATES?

The benefits may include, but not limited to:

The MOVE Difference

After practicing pilates with Elaine, my body is changing, and I'm happier with it than I've ever been in my life. I feel stronger and fitter than I ever have, and I have a newfound respect and, dare I say it, affection for my body - pretty remarkable for a 50 year old woman.
